    Oddur Joensen is a guitarist, composer and producer from the Faroe Islands, currently based in Oslo where he is currently studying a bachelor in guitar performance.
    Oddurs playing style can be described as a blend of different genres ranging from jazz and world music to soul and rock. The last couple of years he has been working actively in the Faroese music scene, with artists such as: Funksjon, Vincent, High Moon, Anton Liljedahl, Marianna Winther, Bárður á Lakjuni, Katrin á Borg, Kristian Blak, Dania Tausen, etc.
    “Eyes Wide Open” is the title of Oddur Joensens debut album as a solo artist, the album is made of 8 instrumental compositions, that can be described as a coalition of rock, jazz and world music. The music travels from soft and minimalistic, to hectic and impulsive.
    The underlying concept of the album was to place a rock band that has drawn inspiration from a variety of different genres, into a recording studio. This symbolises Oddurs playing style, rock music was where he took his first steps as a musician, but has since then expanded his musicality by experimenting with jazz, raga, free jazz and world music. Despite these being different genres altogether, they are mediated in an understandable manner, just as we people seek knowledge, get educated and learn from different cultures, so that we can form our own thoughts independently.
